What is
focused shockwave?
A short, honest overview of the method, when it may be relevant and what a treatment feels like.
What do we mean by focused shockwave?
This treatment uses acoustic pressure waves. Suitability depends on the specific problem, which is why a conversation and examination always come first.
Examples of relevant conditions
Shockwave is used for conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon symptoms, tennis and golfer's elbow, jumper's knee and calcium deposits in shoulder tendons. It is not appropriate for all pain; an examination determines what suits you.

What treatment feels like
We begin with a conversation and examination. If shockwave is suitable, gel is applied and the handpiece placed on the selected area. Settings are adjusted during treatment, and follow-up is based on your response.

Treatment can be uncomfortable. Temporary soreness, redness, swelling or bruising may occur. Tell us about medication, pregnancy and relevant conditions so we can assess suitability.

How many treatments will I need?
This depends on your symptoms and response to treatment. We agree on individual care and regularly review whether continuing is appropriate. We do not promise a particular result.
